Project

Switch Room & Tanks, Cooper Basin.

Description

MAX Services Moomba depot completed an upgrade for Beach Energy at their Lycium facility located in the Cooper Basin. The project involved a series of heavy lifts which included a new electrical switch room weighing 19.6t, a production tank weighing 14.8t, a dewatering tank weighing 18.1t and a 14t pre-cast concrete slab base for the 2 new generators.

A 130t Liebherr all terrain crane with 42t of counterweight was supplied to conduct the lifts and a road train was used to transport the counterweights to and from the site.

The switch room required a complex rigging arrangement due to the offset centre of gravity but was lifted into position from transport seamlessly thanks to prior planning conducted by MAX Services in conjunction with Beach Energy crews to supply a detailed lift study, and a big thanks to our experienced MAX Cooper Basin crew for another safe project completed on time and as planned.

The crane had to be fully derigged of counterweight to move for each lift, then repositioned and counterweight reinstalled for each subsequent lift.

The crew mobilised from Moomba to site Friday 26th of June, a 3.5hr journey, MAX completed all required lifts without incident & demobilised Sunday 28th of June, arriving back to base that afternoon.
